Retinal Imaging

What is Retinal Imaging?

Retinal imaging is a quick, non-invasive test that captures high-resolution digital images of the back of your eye. This advanced technology allows us to see details of your retina, optic nerve, and blood vessels that are difficult to examine with traditional methods.

By providing a clear and permanent record of your eye health, retinal imaging helps us detect early signs of eye conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. It can also reveal important indicators of general health issues, including high blood pressure and cholesterol.

Why do we recommend this?

Many eye diseases develop slowly and without noticeable symptoms. Retinal imaging makes it possible to identify these changes before they affect your vision. Early detection is the key to effective treatment and long-term protection of your sight.

What to Expect?

The process is quick, safe, and comfortable. You’ll simply look into a specialised camera while it takes a detailed photo of the back of your eye, usually without the need for dilating drops. Our optometrists will then review the images with you, explain any findings, and answer your questions.
